New text-book on physical geography with dozens of Earth images from space
The first text-book on physical geography, containing over a dozen of Earth observation images from space, related to different sections of the grade 6 geography classes, was issued. The text-book “Geography. Introduction” for 6th grade (author – A.A.Letyagin, Ed.D. candidate) has extended information on the methods of geographic studies as per the requirements of geography teaching. The task of the authors was to illustrate the integrity and global dynamics on our planet to the students.
The new software version contains Internet-resources where additional material to the content can be reviewed. Additional texts elevate the mind and stir up cognitive interests of the students. The text-book is part of the Federal list, recommended by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation to be used throughout the 2007/2008 school year. The program, work-books and tutorials, containing sections, dedicated to the use of Earth observation images, will be published during the current year. Images for the text-book were provided by ScanEx R&D Center.
- Information about the methods and importance of satellite-based observations, about global navigation systems;
- A lot of space images for illustration;
- Depiction in space-time correlation of the “man-nature-economy” system integrity;
- Attention drawn to practical types of activities.
