Samara Geoinformation Center reached the outer space
A new ground receiving station was put into operation in the Samara Space Geoinformation Center. This center is being created at the Samara State Aerospace University after S. Korolev, which won the contest of innovation programs under the “Education” national project.
On December 18, a new universal UniScan ground receiving station with the 2.4 m antenna manufactured by ScanEx R&D Center started to operate. The station provided for the data access to 8 satellites of the world leading programs from the USA, France, India, Russia, Canada and Israel. After the official opening ceremony, the Samara Geoinformation Center will be able to receive and to process space images, acquired using optical and radar satellite sensors with spatial resolution ranging from 2 meters to 1 kilometer for different scientific, educational and practical purposes of the region development.
As a result of putting the new universal UniScan ground station into operation, the Samara Geoinformation Center becomes the highest-capacity university space center in Russia. The primary tasks of the center will be the development of space information technology and preparation of specialists for the development of the Samara Region economy and the Russian geoinformation industry as a whole.
