SCANEX NERIS®

THEMATIC INTERPRETATION OF THE EARTH OBSERVATION DATA

ScanEx NeRIS software application - is the neural network raster interpretation system, designed for spatial data thematic interpretation, and first of all of the Earth observation data. During the source data processing the program enables to use both conventional (visualization, filtration, obtaining new images by computation) and up-to-date methods, using adaptive algorithms based on the Kohonen artificial neural networks.

Basic advantages of the program are in the capability, unlike common classification systems, to use neural networks for the detection of the spectral structure of the source image, thus enabling to understand spectral correlation between all classes of the image being classified.

An important feature of the program is its interactivity. An expert can define boundaries of this or that class and the number of classes on the resulting thematic image at any classification stage. Based on the detected structure of source image classes and the thematic classes’ hierarchy, the raster-to-vector transformations process has been implemented for further transfer of the interpretation results into GIS environment.
